Programming Around Pain: Low Back Intensive
Programming Around Pain: Low Back Intensive
New Cohort Starts July 22nd!!
The 4-week course that turns “my back’s been bothering me” from the most awkward sentence in your session into the easiest one.
The Problem
Up to 9 out of 10 cases of low back pain happen without a specific cause. That means most of the clients walking into your gym with a cranky back don’t have a structural problem you can point to — they have a programming problem you haven’t been taught how to solve.
So what happens?
You guess. You back off the deadlift. You sub in some bird dogs. You send them to a PT who underloads them for 8 weeks and they never come back. Or you push through it, the flare gets worse, and now they associate your gym with their pain.
There’s a third option. And it’s a system.
What This Course Is
A 4-week deep dive into the most common pain complaint walking into your gym — and the programming framework to actually solve it.
By the end, you’ll have a complete decision-making system for assessing, classifying, and programming around low back pain — plus 12 weeks of templated programming you can apply the next day with real clients.
What You’ll Walk Away With
- A clear framework for identifying movement-biased low back pain
- 12 weeks of done-for-you programming templates organized by movement bias
- The clinical reasoning behind every programming decision — so you can adapt it, not just copy it
- Confidence to keep clients training around low back pain instead of shutting them down
- A repeatable system you can run on every low back client for the rest of your career
Weekly Breakdown
Week 1 — Low back pain overview and general programming principles
Week 2 — Extension-biased programming principles
Week 3 — Flexion-biased programming principles
Week 4 — Special populations: pregnancy, pelvic floor, and post-surgical considerations
Format
Each week includes:
- 1-hour live virtual lecture
- 1-hour live office hours for case discussion and Q&A
- Application work between sessions to lock in the material
Can’t make the live calls? Every session is recorded and yours to keep with unlimited access.
Who This Is For
- Personal trainers, strength coaches, and fitness professionals who work with adult clients
- Coaches who routinely have clients show up with low back pain and don’t have a clear system for what to do
- Coaches who are tired of losing clients to “I need to take some time off” or “I’m gonna go see a PT”
- Coaches who want to keep their clients training around pain instead of shutting them down
Who This Is Not For
- Clinicians looking for diagnostic or differential workup protocols. This is a coaching and programming course, not a clinical decision-making course.
- Coaches looking for a generic “core stability” program. This course is built around movement bias and individualized programming, not one-size-fits-all corrective drills.
- Anyone hoping for a quick-fix template they can copy without understanding why it works.
Why Learn This From Me
I’m Justin Farnsworth — Doctor of Physical Therapy and board-certified sports clinical specialist. I’ve spent the last decade bridging the gap between the clinic and the gym floor, working with coaches and lifters who refuse to stop training just because something hurts.
Low back pain is the single most common complaint I treat. It’s also the area where I see the most preventable damage done — by well-meaning coaches who were never taught how to program around it, and by clinicians who underload their patients into permanent fragility.
This course is the system I wish every coach had access to.
